How to Properly Store a Bottle of Wine in Your Wine Rack
Tips on how to properly store your bottles of wine in your wine rack
- Long periods of light exposure can affect your wine. Exposure to light should be kept to a minimum. Do not leave your wine cellar lights on if it is not necessary.
- You can keep wine almost anywhere. Obviously some locations would be better than others to have your wine storage and wine racks. Modern processing has created wine that is less susceptible to spoilage unlike wines from 50 years ago.
- Make sure that the temperature is consistent with little as possible rapid variation. Rapid variation of temperature will cause the wine within the bottle to expand and contract causing further pressures on the cork to move and allow air into the bottle and the evaporation of wine effecting the taste and longevity of the wine.
- Collection wines can be stored for many years, less expensive wines are meant to be enjoyed much sooner.
