Many wine drinkers prefer to keep chocolate to one of side of their stemware, not blended into their Cabernet Sauvignon. For such consumers there are many reds with tasting notes featuring hints of their favorite sweet treat, while the wine is still dry or a little bit off-dry.

Touring wineries sounds like a good idea, even if all you’re going to do is taste wine. Still, if vintners are offering chocolate too, who’s going to complain?

Consumers often speak of their favorite wines in very specific terms. They enjoy a Malbec, a Cabernet Franc, or a Pinot Noir. Newbie drinkers will sometimes just say they enjoy a ‘red’, but as their palates become more sophisticated, they choose favorites and stock their wine racks accordingly.

Vines and music have been associated for a long time. Many wineries promote their establishments by bringing in good local acts, and that’s wonderful. If you spend time analysing the characteristics of a glass of Zinfadel, then perhaps you are also the sort of person who listens to jazz thoughtfully and chooses to admire music for [...]

For a light, refreshing wine many consumers turn to White Zinfadel. It isn’t challenging when compared to a spicy Sauvignon Blanc or a peppery Shiraz. It can be imbibed with a meal or on its own. I chose my recent bottle because I saw it right away in the cooler and it didn’t look like one I’d tried [...]
Not quite on Valentine’s Day but close, February 12th, Grgich Hills Estate Winery gives wine club members a chance to celebrate stylishly. This is the same tour which sold out for the Napa Love Train lunches: chances are, dinner here could be a winner.
Mendocino County presents Crab and Wine Days. Not sure about the crab part, but to the best of my understanding, this area on the northern coast of California is known for Dungeness Crab, so perhaps gain some pairing ideas while traveling around from one winery to another with a passport from January 21st-30th.

Canadian Thanksgiving is long-since over, which means I must not forget that Americans will be enjoying their turkey in about a month. Now is a good time to start the run down on events across the nation, which could take a while as it’s a big country and you like to celebrate. I like that [...]
There was a time when Blue Nun had a reputation for making very poor quality wine. In the 1980s and 90s their wine was a Liebfraumilch, very popular in the UK as a cheap glass of white for the undiscerning. I drank a glass or three way back when and I have to say I [...]

Within the next few days and weeks we will be picking, eating, pitting, storing, canning and cooking with cherries. They come out of one’s ying yang up here. Not that I’m complaining. We just need to have a lot of really good ideas for how to use cherries so as not to get really bored. [...]
