Golf and Wine: A Comfortable Pairing

golfers, wineries, wine

There has been a long and positive connection between golfers and vineyards. Wine Spectator just announced annother pairing, this one between Justin Leonard and Beringer wines, ’the official wine of the PGA’  Tournament.

Leonard joins pro players like Ernie Els, David Foster, and Mark O’Meara as he enters into the business of wine promotion. As WS points out, when a seminar on the topic of athletes and wine was held in October, half of the athletes in question were golfers.

Female golfer Annika Sorrenstam was born in Sweden, but she now partners with Wente Vineyards of California to make Annika Chardonnay and Syrah. Her prices are not for the faint of heart, but thankfully, wine is probably good for your heart. Besides, she gives a lot of her time and wealth to people who need it.

England’s Nick Faldo is honored by Katnook Estate of Australia with his own Faldo label. His varietals include a Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Faldo is only sold on UK and American retail wine racks. That’s quite a blend.
