On Tuesday, May 7th, Wine Rack Store Director of Communications, Heather Hoskins and Web Developer, Sidney Ray, made the two hour drive from Olympia, Washington down to Portland, Oregon to participate in a Search Engine Marketing Event.

Both Women are Members of the Portland Search Engine Marketer’s Association. For this reason, Hoskins and Ray find themselves making the trip down at least once a month for various marketing events.

“These events provide more than just education on the latest in the industry,” said Ray, “It also gives us the opportunity to network with other members from a variety of business and exchange knowledge.”

Being a part of an association also helps the visibility of Wine Rack Store, an eCom based wine rack and custom wine cellar business that has been around for over 17 years, keep their brand fresh.

“With the world of Search Engine Optimization constantly changing, continuing education through marketing events are my main source of information for where the industry is headed,” said Hoskins, “Events like these gives all of us at the Wine Rack Store the tools we need to continue to be successful.”

Hoskins and Ray are scheduled to attend the next Portland Search Engine Marketing Event in August of 2012 as well as MozCon up in Seattle, Washington This July.

Wine Bottle Adapter

It is well known amongst wine buyers that bottle shapes vary based on factors such as varietal or brand. The bottle itself even comes in various sizes ranging from what is known as “big bottles” to the smaller more slender wine bottles, even long necks and short necks.

Micheal Kitson, President of Wine Rack Store, has long been aware of these variations when designing his prefabricated racking solutions as well as anytime he takes in a custom wine rack orders.

“We’ve designed our big bottle wine racks as well as our wine rack adapters for smaller bottles for this exact reason,” said Kitson. His designs have even been used by retailers for displaying and storing bottles of craft beers.

Additional to traditional wine storage and beer bottle storage, wine racks are also great for storing bottles of liquor allowing for quick and easy access for any mixologist.

“Just Google wine rack uses on the internet,” said Kitson, “the results will yield many uses for racks beyond just wine and bottle storage.”

Crafters have blogged about the many uses that expand far beyond storing bottles. Newspapers, magazines, jars, the list of possibilities for a wine rack is endless.

Wine Rack Store encourages their customers to think out side of the box when considering a purchase, and even more so when creating a custom design. “Most people shopping our store do so for the purpose of storing their wine collection,” said Kitson, “But every so often we will get a call in for someone looking to do something completely out of the norm, we always welcome inquires of all sorts.”

New Website for Wine Rack Store

The Wine Rack Store has been an e-com business for over 17 years. During that time the site has seen its share of updates and enhancements. Last fall, Wine Rack President, Michael Kitson was ready for something entirely new and different. “We want to ensure our site caters to all types of online shoppers,” said Kitson, “And I’m sure everyone can agree the easier it is to find what your looking for, the better.”

The purpose for the redesign came after a series of user-friendly updates were launched to the previous website design over the fall of 2011. Sidney Ray, Website Supervisor for Wine Rack Store, had spent that time working with a conversion optimization vendor, to continuously improvement the sites features for visitors.

Updates to the main page like a wine rack finder based on dimensions or bottle count, just didn’t fit into the current design anymore. After realizing this, Kitson and Ray began searching for a designer that understood the needs of the Wine Rack Store to better serve their customers who preferred to do their shopping online.

“Now that it is all done, customers feedback has been outstanding,” said Ray, ” They are able to find the exact wine rack they want, and make a decision fast and easily.” The long-term goal of this redesign was not only to have a more attractive site, but also to make it so that future updates will fit nicely into this new mold.

Online Retailer is Huge Sports Lover, Encourages Other Fans to Stock Up Their Wine Racks with Fine Wines and Specialty Beers to Celebrate Baseball’s 2012 Season

Now that opening day has come and gone, Major League Baseball’s 2012 season is in full swing.

Online retailer, Wine Rack Store has done some restocking on baseball themed wine charms and is ready to support customers as they celebrate the season.

“I’m a huge San Francisco Giants Fan,” said Wine Rack Store Communications Director and Bay Area transplant, Heather Hoskins, “However it’s not too often that I can catch them playing live against the Mariners up here at Seattle’s Safeco Field, most of the season I just throw in-house game parties with friends and family.”
