Strange as it seems, some people prefer to keep wine rather than drink it. I know. Perfectly good wine sits in a cupboard going stale, then other people with money get the notion to buy it. To me that is like buying a box of chocolates just to leave it in a cupboard for decades, then trying to sell it as a vintage package. Continue reading

Wine and Diets at the Wine Rack Store
I’m sort of on a diet. Kind of. Not really. Well, I guess that’s the best way to describe it if I’m honest. Continue reading
Spanish Aromas
You might remember that I wrote about an upcoming Spanish dinner a little while back. We had that dinner last night. It has to be said that, after cooking Greek and Vietnamese cuisine, Spanish is my favorite so far. Continue reading
Some Virginia Wineries from the Wine Rack Store
I’ve talked about the Virginia Expo. Now it seems fitting to mention a few wineries located in that state. Whether they turn up at the Expo I have no idea, but be assured: there are a lot of wineries in Virginia. Continue reading
Wine With Burgers
The 25th, 26th and 27th of February are important days on any Virginia wine-lover’s calendar. These are the dates of Virginia Wine Expo 2011, being held at Greater Richmond Convention Center. Continue reading
Blue Nun
After reading that Blue Nun was a much better product than it had been in years past, I decided to take a chance on it. Once upon a time this was the sort of cheap wine we served at the pub where I worked; not the kind of place with a wine list. Continue reading
Wine Rack Store And Last Minute Valentine’s

Although it isn’t Christmas, Valentine’s Day is still a time for giving. Frequently men and women will exchange presents like chocolates and flowers. They book romantic weekends for two. Or, the women especially stare at computer screens wondering collectively ‘what do I get him?’ Continue reading
Wine to Vinegar
According to New York Carver, monks during the dark ages were often associated with heavy drinking and a rather gluttenous approach to life, even though many were extremely devout. Some art work of the time depicts tonsured men clearly in drink. Originally their discoveries were also connected with medicine and hygiene, since water was not clean enough to drink everywhere you went. Great excuse for a tipple. Continue reading
The Recycling Question at the Wine Rack Store
Our town just got curb side recycling. ‘So late?’ you may wonder, or ‘already?’ if you live somewhere like our town. I’m inclined to agree with the first statement as we had this program more than twenty years ago where I grew up, then it started only slightly less than twenty years ago in the little English village where we lived for a while. Still, I’m glad we have it at all. Continue reading
My Return From Camp
This weekend I will be chaperoning a few girls at a weekend youth retreat: camp, by any other name, and just as chaotic. Thankfully my only job is to hang around at night so that at least my group stays in their cabin; other people will look after wide games etc. Moreover, it’s just one weekend; two nights, with Valentine’s Day at the other end of it. Continue reading
